Brrrrrr.....

It's been cold - really cold - and if the forecasters are even remotely close on their predictions, we're in for more and colder weather in the next few months. This, of course, presents gobs of hardware related issues around the home. The biggest issue we've faced thus far has been with frozen and broken pipes. We had a customer in yesterday who's copper water line had expanded so much from the ice, that it went from being a 1/2" inside diameter to almost 3/4"! That obviously makes for a mess and an interesting repair job.

As always, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and we are fully stocked with heat tape, heat lamps, pipe insulation and other things to prevent your pipes from freezing (or at least deter it). Just a reminder that heat tape can't be used on pex, but you can insulate it and if you need , add a heat lamp or heater. We also have thermostats that can be plugged right into the receptacle and then your heater or heat lamp plugged into it.

If you already have a break, we have an experienced plumber on hand who's more than willing to lend a hand and a fully stocked plumbing department. We also recently received a large shipment of sump pumps and pedestal pumps in case the broken water line caused a big mess. Our selection of snow shovels, sleds, and ice melt is also still extensive.

As you can see from our home page on this blog, we are now on Facebook. We will be running some promotions soon for facebook friends only so if you're not already, friend us by looking up "Randy's Hardware." Our goal is to really increase our web presence this new year and if you have any feedback for us, please comment on this blog, message us on facebook, or email us at randyshardware@gmail.com . Let us know if there's something you'd like to see!
